I confess, I’m not a dedicated nature journal user. My nature journaling has always been hit or miss and although I always dreamed of carrying my journal and watercolors everywhere, for many reasons, I never have. I’ve finally accepted I’m not likely to squeeze all the supplies into my field bag on a regular basis so I’ve become more comfortable with working on it at home from photos. As a result, I’ve started to use my journal a little more. It’s also helped that instead of using a series of different journals, I recently started using a Traveler’s Notebook with customizable inserts and I can keep my nature journal and other notebooks all in one so it’s always on hand.

Since I illustrated my upcoming book, I’m much more interested in improving my art skills even more and although I’ve done well painting wildlife, I still have some room to go with landscapes.

Speaking of my upcoming book, nature journaling is one of the chapters in it and when I was writing it, I became inspired all over again to be more diligent about it. Here are a few of my more recent entries.
